faith is not blind

because of the my demanding work load, i've been using Os Hillman's TGIF - Today God Is First as a daily devotional instead of My Daily Walk. this switch is temporary and will persist till the end of semester.

today's TGIF passage is something that i've pondered about but from a different perspective.

And Elisha prayed, "O Lord, open his eyes so he may see." Then the Lord opened the servant's eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha. As the enemy came down toward him, Elisha prayed to the Lord, "Strike these people with blindness." So He struck them with blindness, as Elisha had asked
(2 Kings 6:17-18).

i've blogged about the passage in terms of spiritual warfare. TGIF's take on it is to challenge us to pray for God to open our eyes so that we can see God working in our situations, especially in dire ones.

From this perspective, faith lies at the crux of the matter. i think because of john 20:29 (then Jesus told him, "Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.") many christians underplay the tangibility of faith.

from my personal experiences i believe that when we seek God, he will reveal himself and his work in our lives in palpable ways. No doubt that God is spiritual and there a lot of spiritual things that are unrevealed to us, but God is also always working and ready to work in our physical world.

Like elisha and his servant, their faith enabled them to see, their faith was not in the least blind.
