paradoxical

2 Samuel 24:24
But the king replied to Araunah, "No, I insist on paying you for it. I will not sacrifice to the Lord my God burnt offerings that cost me nothing."

Our walk with God is such a paradox. While some people perceive it to be a lifestyle of denial, it is also a lifestyle of deliverance and protection.

While at crossroads in life we entrust our decisions to God, we also know God to proclaim that he grants us the desires of our heart.

And now, as 2 Samuel 24:24 reminds us of the cost of sacrifice as disciples of God - possibly miscontrued to be a sadistic tyrant who has all he wants already - we have to put into perspective that God is a God of providence and limitless blessing.

So for every 'hardship' that we think we are bearing for Christ, it helps to have the perspective that our understanding of God's plans are limited and that at the end of it, it is us who benefit and gain from a giving, loving God.
